A summary of our shipping services

Each year, we carry more than 165 million tons of bulk and unitised cargo and perform around 13,000 port calls to some 125 countries. On average, we operate around 400 chartered and owned ships at any one time.

As a truly global volume carrier, we serve more load ports and destinations than our direct competitors. OLDENDORFF CARRIERS is also recognised as a world leader in the transportation of steel cargoes.

For 90 years, OLDENDORFF CARRIERS has served shippers, receivers and traders, who can expect us to be both reliable as well as flexible. Contact with our cargo clients is maintained through offices in Lübeck (Germany), Stamford (US), Singapore, Mumbai, Melbourne, Shanghai, Tokyo, Vancouver, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Guyana, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Other business areas

Conveyor belt unloaders are operated in a pool with CSL International. These special units discharge the bulk cargoes by gravity at a rate of up to 5,000 tons per hour. Our bulk logistics division uses reloaders to perform off- shore transshipment of coal in Turkey, iron ore in the United Arab Emirates and bauxite in Guyana (NCSA).

Other subsidiary operations include farming, aviation and real estate including a 5 star hotel. Our 1,400 employees are of 65 different nationalities.

Our headquarters

In 1999, OLDENDORFF CARRIERS moved to a new waterside office, dubbed "The Dorff", overlooking the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. It was built on top of the Radisson Blu Senator Hotel. Six wings contain the "Ship Management Pier", "Commercial Pier", "Management Pier", "Financial Pier", "Administrational Pier" and "Marine Accounting Pier".

Several glassed meeting rooms have been incorporated. In our cafeteria, lunch is provided by the hotel kitchen. The central atrium serves as a communication and meeting area and is in the vicinity of the reception desk. The total space is some 3,500 square metres, currently occupied by about 210 employees of 20 different nationalities (German, Danish, British, Greek, Dutch, Norwegian, Russian, Ukrainian, Austrian, Canadian, Chinese, Finnish, Irish, Japanese, Polish, South African, Spanish, Swedish, Swiss and Turkish). Another 140 people employed in our 12 international offices are made up of a similar number of nationalities.
